KEVIN ELMY, CPAG - 2 ½ DAY MASTERCLASS

Meet your presenter

HE’S BACK!
Kevin Elmy’s 2027 Regenerative Agriculture Masterclass

A practical and inspiring 2½-day experience for Australian farmers and graziers

Following the outstanding response to Kevin Elmy’s 2026 Australian masterclasses, we’re excited to announce that
he’s coming back in 2027!
You’re invited to join internationally respected Canadian farmer, educator and regenerative agriculture specialist Kevin Elmy for a unique 2½-day masterclass in:
  • Emerald, Queensland
  • Kandanga, Queensland
  • Yeoval, New South Wales

Why Kevin Is Coming Back?
In August 2025, a group of 30 Australian graziers travelled through Canada, visiting many of Kevin’s clients and seeing regenerative farming principles in action. Kevin joined the group for several of these visits, generously sharing his knowledge, experience and practical insights.
The value of those days was clear.
Kevin was subsequently invited to Australia in 2026, where he delivered masterclasses in Yeoval and Emerald.

The feedback was so positive that we had to invite him back for 2027—this time with an additional masterclass in Kandanga.

Practical Knowledge Built on Experience
Kevin has been farming within the regenerative agriculture space since 2000 and working with cover crops since 2007.
Over the years, he has collaborated with leading practitioners and helped producers develop regenerative systems suited to their own landscapes, enterprises and goals.

Kevin understands that every farm is different. Climate, soils, livestock, crops and management practices vary from property to property and country to country—but the underlying principles remain the same.

His focus is on helping producers:
  • Understand what is happening within their soil, plants and animals
  • Build healthier and more resilient farming systems
  • Use cover crops effectively
  • Reduce production risks
  • Produce healthier food
  • Improve profitability and long-term sustainability
  • Develop practical regenerative systems suited to their own operations

From the Classroom to the Paddock
This won’t be 2½ days spent sitting in a classroom.
Kevin will combine clear, practical teaching with time in the field, giving participants the opportunity to observe, discuss and apply regenerative principles in a real farming environment.
You’ll explore how regenerative agriculture can work locally while learning to look more closely at the relationships between soil health, plant diversity, livestock performance and farm profitability.
Kevin’s down-to-earth approach makes complex ideas easier to understand—and, most importantly, easier to put into practice.
Who Should Attend?
This masterclass is ideal for farmers, graziers and agricultural professionals who want to:
  • Improve soil health and biological activity
  • Build greater resilience into their farming business
  • Explore cover cropping and plant diversity
  • Better integrate livestock, soils and plants
  • Reduce reliance on costly inputs
  • Learn from practical international experience
  • Take the next step in their regenerative agriculture journey
Whether you’re just beginning to explore regenerative agriculture or already applying its principles, Kevin will challenge you to think differently, observe more carefully and identify practical opportunities within your own operation.

Three Locations. One Outstanding Opportunity.

Join Kevin Elmy in Emerald, Kandanga or Yeoval for a fun, practical and richly educational 2½-day experience.
Come ready to learn, ask questions, share ideas and spend time with other forward-thinking producers.

Kevin Elmy is back—and you’re invited.

Places will be limited.

Kevin: Soil health is important to me. Being able to grow healthy plants with minimal synthetic inputs has been a goal of mine for quite a few years. Through trial on our farm, learning from leaders in the field, we have put into action principles in Soil Health.

RECORDED WEBINAR

"Building Resilient Soils: Cover Crops, Biology & Profitable Pastures with Kevin Elmy"

🌱 Building Resilience from the Soil Up

In this podcast, Canadian regenerative agriculture specialist Kevin Elmy shares how cover crops, plant diversity, living roots and livestock can help build healthier soils, reduce risk and improve farm profitability.

Kevin challenges us to see weeds as indicators, choose plants for their ecological function and focus on feeding the “livestock” beneath our feet—the billions of organisms that keep soil functioning.

His message is simple: keep the soil covered, maintain living roots for as long as possible and work with nature to create more resilient farming systems.

Kevin Elmy is the author of Not Just Dirt and long-time regenerative agronomist.

Kevin shares how he turned “dirt back into soil” on his Saskatchewan farm, and how the same principles apply in

Western Canada, Western Australia and across Australian grazing country.

From multi-species cover crops and relay cropping, to weeds as indicator plants and the power of livestock, Kevin unpacks a practical, biology-first approach to reducing risk, improving water use, and lifting profitability in
both cropping and livestock systems.

Key Concepts & Takeaways

  • Principles before products: Start with biology, living roots and diversity; inputs and machinery are secondary.

  • Diversity trumps density: Five functional plant groups – grasses, legumes, brassicas, non-brassica forbs, and other broadleaves – with mixes of summer/winter active and annual/biennial/perennial species.

  • Weeds as messages: Species like wild oats, Capeweed and thistles are signalling high nitrates, compaction or mineral imbalances – not “bad luck”.

  • Livestock as critical partners: Properly integrated livestock elevate soil health to the “next level” through grazing, trampling and nutrient cycling.

  • Think like a plant and a microbe: The aim is to feed soil biology so it can feed plants, animals and ultimately human health

"If we're not making money, we're not going to be doing good things for the soil for very long."

Kevin Elmy

"Weeds are just really successful plants trying to fix the soil."

Kevin Elmy

“Diversity trumps density – every time.”

Kevin Elmy

We focus on the livestock above the ground, but if we ignore the livestock under the ground, we’re missing half the picture.”
